1.Summary

The Taiko Ship Clean "SBH Series" arecompact sized sewage treatment systemswith superior performance capabilities.designed exclusively for marine installations.They are the result of considerableresearch and include the latest technology toprevent water pollution.Reviewing the bio-filter method from thestart and pursuing the method treatmentefficiency to the limit have realized a newsewage treatment plant which meets the newstandard,MEPC.159(55)regulated values,though it is a small device.

Also, in the SBH series, the use of acombination of UV Sterilizer and chlorineallows achievement of more propersterilization and, at the same time, the effectof neutralization of residual chlorine by UVSterilizer reduces the concentration of theresidual chlorine in the treated water to a verylow level.

2.Construction(Refer to Fig1..2.1 General of "Bio-Filter Method"The Bio-Filter Method is a method ofprocessing sewage by utilizing a biologicafilm. Packing media are placed in the tankand liquid sewage is circulated around it bymeans of aeration.

The sewage contacts the biological filmcausing growth of bacteria on the surface ofpacking media and organic matter(B0Dsource)is treated by biochemical oxidation.

2.2 Constructior2.2.1 Bio Filter TankSewage from toilets in the ship flows intothe Bio-filter Tank.Foreign objects which could obstructoperation of the plant are held by a screenAir from a blower causes circulation of theliquid and breaks up the solids. lt alsosupplies oxygen to the microorganismsattached to the packing media.

2.2.2 Separation TankThis tank allows static deposition of theSuspended Solid(SS)content included inthe treated water after organic matter hasbeen resolved in the bio-filter tank: afloating scum is also resolved,2.2.3 T reated Water TankThe treated water from which SSconstituents have been removed in theseparation tank overflows,is mixed withthe chlorine which has been dissolved outof the sterilizer,and then accumulates inthe treated water tank,where it issufficiently sterilized by chlorine and theUV sterilizer (by circulation). And then it isautomatically discharged outboard bymeans of a level control.
