JQS Type Scalable Retractable Fin Stabilizer

The JQS type stabilizer is composed of actuators, fins, fin boxes, hydraulic units, and electrical units, etc. The fins are respectively fixed on the port and starboard bilge of the ship. When retracting, the fins will be moved along the guide way in the transverse section of the ships, for which, this type of device is called scalable retractable stabilizer.

Scalable retractable fin stabilizer has a smaller opening on the fin boxes and takes up less space in vessel length. It is an alternatives for ships.
Scalable retractable fin stabilizer will be used considering:

The fins is too long, and may collide the wharf when non-retractable is used.
Retractable fin stabilizer is chosen, and the smallest aperture is expected
When the space is tight for folded retractable fin stabilizer, part-scalable retractable fin stabilizer can be selected. The fin will be housed into the fin boxes if it is not used in order to meet the requirements for preventing collisions. Since only parts of the fin is housed into the box, the overall structure is small and can meet the space requirement of the ship.
Scalable retractable fin stabilizer is extended and retracted along the linear guide.
Scalable retractable fin stabilizer mainly occupies width and height direction of the ship. Since it is linear motion, the opening of the fin boxes should be slightly bigger than the section of the fin. So the opening area of the fin boxes approximately equal to 40% of retractable fin stabilizer.
